Sustainability & Hibiscus Coast Zero Waste

A success story - Children’s Ark is just one of many centres embracing sustainable practices

Children’s Ark in Torbay were involved in the Zero Waste ECE programme early on. They have been recognized for their commitment and leadership in reducing waste in the community at the 2021 Zero Waste Awards in Auckland. They received a Highly Commended award for Rangatahi – Leadership. The commendation is a reflection of the work they’ve done at their newly refurbished ECE centre which is well on the way to becoming Zero Waste.

Amongst other initiatives, Children’s Ark uses the Eco Nappy Service which washes cloth nappies and any food waste that is generated is collected by the City to Farm food scrap collection service.
